HEALING
INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO
You were just tattooed in a modern studio with sterilized instruments and pigments.
If you follow these simple directions, you will have a quick and attractive tattoo.
The life of your tattoo is dependent upon the care it receives in the first few
days.
* Remove
the bandage after a minimum of two hours. If the
dressing sticks to the skin, wet the area with
lukewarm water and then remove the dressing carefully.
* Once the tattoo is exposed, wash it thoroughly with mild soap and water.
Be sure to remove all surface blood and rinse off any remaining soap.
* DO NOT re-bandage tattoo
* DO NOT apply Vaseline or petroleum jelly.
* DO NOT apply alcohol.
* DO NOT rub, scratch or pick at tattoo.
* After washing tattoo, lightly pat dry and apply a SMALL amount of Bacitracin
ointment. (Please be sure your hands are clean!) Massage ointment into tattoo.
* DO NOT apply a heavy coat of ointment, your skin must be able to breathe.
* DO NOT expose tattoo to direct sunlight for up to 2 weeks.
* DO NOT swim for up to 2 weeks.
* DO NOT soak in tub or spa, or use a sauna for up to 2 weeks.
* The sun, saltwater and chlorine all act as bleach and will ruin your tattoo.
* Depending on the nature and the extent of your work, it may be necessary
to wear clothing heavy enough to protect your tattoo, particularly if you work
around grease, oils, dirts, metal, etc.
* Be sure that any clothing which touches your tattoo is clean and soft.
* Your new tattoo will develop a layer of dry skin. Apply ointment three times
daily until the layer of skin all falls off on its own.
* DO NOT let tattoo dry out, always keep a light layer of ointment on the tattoo
for up to 2 weeks.
* This ointment can be purchased at any drugstore. If a rash occurs, discontinue
use. Alternatives are: A&D ointment, Micotracin or Neosporin ointment.
If rash still persists, Dermassage lotion or Lubriderm may be applied.
* After the dry skin has fallen off, there will be a period of adjustment for
the new skin. It is advisable to use a lotion during this time.
* The healing process usually takes about 2 weeks, but can vary.
* The tattoo is your responsibility after you leave the studio. USE COMMON
SENSE!
